Shelby Purdy, WHNP
Shelby grew up in Kingsport, a small town in East Tennessee. She received her bachelor’s degree in philosophy from East Tennessee State University before moving to Nashville in 2016. She loved her mountain home, but she was excited to see what the city had to offer. Once in Nashville, Shelby decided to pursue a job in the healthcare field. She gained experience as a healthcare assistant at Planned Parenthood and in our very own halls at Women. She graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2021, and she is now a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner.
Shelby is passionate about inclusive sexual and reproductive healthcare for any patient who walks through our doors. She is committed to ensuring a safe space in which patient and provider work collaboratively. Patient education and empowerment are at the top of her list. Shelby enjoys working with women throughout all stages of life. She has also completed continuing education in the field of adolescent gynecology and is eagerly learning more. She is happy to serve those regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, socioeconomic background, weight, or family planning goals.
In her free time, Shelby enjoys long hikes with her husband Kyle, her daughter River, and her sweet pup Blue. She has over 50 houseplants and hopes to have an outdoor garden one day. She loves seeing live music and she has a large record collection to support her love of music when she can’t make it to a show. Food is her love language–she loves to cook and bake for her loved ones and try new food spots around town.
