Shelby Purdy, WHNP

Shelby grew up in Kingsport, a small town in East Tennessee. She received her bachelor’s degree in philosophy from East Tennessee State University before moving to Nashville in 2016. She loved her mountain home, but she was excited to see what the city had to offer. Once in Nashville, Shelby decided to pursue a job in the healthcare field. She gained experience as a healthcare assistant at Planned Parenthood and in our very own halls at Women. She recently graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2021, and she is now a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner.

Shelby is passionate about inclusive sexual and reproductive healthcare for any patient who walks through our doors. She is committed to ensuring a safe space in which patient and provider work collaboratively. Patient education and empowerment are at the top of her list. Shelby enjoys working with women throughout all stages of life. She is happy to serve those regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, or socioeconomic background.

In her free time, Shelby enjoys long hikes with her husband Kyle and her sweet pup Blue. She frequents music venues, plant shops, and good eats throughout Nashville. If the weather is nice, you catch her on the river kayaking with friends. Her love language is food, and she has recently been working to improve her cooking skills. The ravioli still needs some work. Tips anyone?
