Nicole Schlechter, MD, PhD

We are excited to announce that Dr. Schlechter has been appointed as the new Chief Medical Officer at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital.  She begins her new position on October 1, 2019, and will have abbreviated hours in our office through October and November.  Join us in congratulating her as she takes her high standards to the hospital setting, to improve processes and the community there.

Dr. Schlechter was born in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to California as a child. She got her Bachelor’s degree and then her Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley. She received her medical degree at Vanderbilt University where she was the medical school’s Founder’s medalist and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed her residency at Vanderbilt in 1994 and became Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1996. She is actively involved in organized medicine, having served as Vice Chief and then Chief of the Department of OB/Gyn at Saint Thomas Midtown (formerly Baptist) Hospital, on the Board of Directors of the Nashville Academy of Medicine and having completed the Physician Leadership College of the Tennessee Medical Association. Most recently, Dr. Schlechter served as Vice Chief and then Chief of the Medical Staff at  Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital.

Dr. Schlechter lives with her (incredibly patient and kind) husband of over 30 years and her two spoiled rotten dogs. She enjoys hiking, travel, exercise, watching hockey and football, and really good food. She is an avid reader and is always anxious to discuss  books with her patients. Some day she plans to learn how to play golf.
